I don't think it looks dirty, I think the suede is just brushed up rather than lying down- easily . But the new Souple SDJ has better quality leather than the previous SDJ . Suede gets dirty and dingy looking easily. The others will be easier to maintain and be more durable. I personally prefer Chanel to YSL but a small classic flap is 00, a medium flap is 00 and a medium boy bag is ,900.
The YSL camera bags are very versatile and can work for casual and nights out, but are going to be a little less structured over time as it’s a softer leather. Compared to a really stiff flap bag which will hold its shape and be scuff resistant, but . So if you don't like the look of the texture then yes, you'd need to switch to leather. But the new Souple SDJ has better quality leather than the previous SDJ models. However I have not had any quality issues. It has been a really sturdy bag. I think the envelope bags have even better quality, the leather is very hardy and durable. So I’d still recommend the YSL envelope to anyone.
I own mostly Jimmy Choos and YSL shoes. I have noticed that Jimmy Choos tend to choose slightly more flexible leathers and have a wider toe box than YSL heels. YSL shoes are also a little more narrow, and the outsole of YSL heels, (especially strappy heels) are notorious for being quite small and do not have much surface area/space for the feet.
I am looking to purchase my first YSL bag (Loulou) and cannot for the life of me tell the difference between the Matelasse "Y" Leather vs the Y-Quilted Leather. I have looked at various colours to spot the difference but I could not. I am eyeing a suede YSL bag in brown. Does anyone own suede from YSL or from other luxury brands? How is the wear and tear. Are they hardy/long. The preferred finish is supple, ever so slightly distressed leather, which gives it a bit of a vintage feel. Brioni, Kiton and Loro Piana all make the best leather/suede jackets I've found. Zegna, Armani, Seraphin, Valentino, Malo, D&G, etc also do high quality leather jackets. For a good deal less money, Schott Bros, for instance, do nice leather jackets.
